The mission of the Extension service is to increase farm productivity and rural incomes, to increase national agricultural production and facilitate the sustainable developments of rural livelihoods. The major roles identified for the service include: Transfer of agricultural technologies Dissemination of research, market and other information Facilitating rapid response by producers to new market opportunities Promotion of environmentally sustainable agriculture Promoting and supporting farmer organizations.
The extension service of the division of agriculture is staffed by a multi-disciplined cadre of officers who provide technical support for the production of all crops, livestock, and soil and water management.
