The Division’s environmental monitoring programe includes the monitoring of beaches, stream flow, rainfall, stream sedimentation, the Matthieu-Layou landslide area. The Division also conducts research on selected flora and fauna. Some of these monitoring programes have been ongoing for several years while others were initiated more recently. The Division also plays an active role in collaborating with regional and international research institutes and individuals for conducting research activities on the island in the areas of Biology, Ecology, Geography and other fauna and flora studies.
